Discounts and promotions

Discount – A discount provided for under the Law on Transport Discounts of the Republic of Lithuania, applicable when traveling on long-distance regular-service buses, local (urban and suburban) regular-service buses and trolleybuses, passenger trains (in 2nd and 3rd class seating cars, when the passenger’s journey begins and ends within the territory of the Republic of Lithuania), and regular-service ships and ferries.

The Law on Transport Concessions of the Republic of Lithuania provides for discounts for the following groups of people:

  • For children and young people;
  • For schoolchildren and students;
  • For families: adults and children;
  • Adults aged 60 to the social security retirement age;
  • For people with disabilities and their companions;
  • For cancer patients, hemodialysis patients, and their companions;
  • For individuals in the historical and special categories.

When purchasing a ticket for themselves and/or a traveling companion using government-provided discounts or benefits, passengers must present the original document confirming their eligibility for the benefit.

Discounts and benefits for passengers are provided based on:

The Law on Transport Concessions of the Republic of Lithuania establishes the categories of persons eligible for concessions on passenger transport, the types of concessions, the reimbursement of passenger transport costs, and the procedures and sources for compensating carriers for lost revenue resulting from the provision of concessions.

The Law on Transport Concessions of the Republic of Lithuania applies to travel on long-distance regular buses, local (urban and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses, passenger trains (in 2nd and 3rd class seating cars, when the passenger’s journey begins and ends within the territory of the Republic of Lithuania), and regular-service ships and ferries.

When purchasing a ticket for themselves and/or a traveling companion using government-provided discounts or benefits, passengers must present the original document confirming their eligibility for the benefit.

Required document:

1. Discounts for children and students. When there is no doubt about a child’s age, no documentation is required to prove eligibility for the discount.
In other cases, if you are attending a general education school or a vocational school and are over 18 years of age, please have the following documents ready when traveling:

-A birth certificate or identification document.

– Student ID card of the Republic of Lithuania.
– ISIC International Student Card.
– A document confirming student status issued by a Member State of the European Union, a country of the European Economic Area, or a third country.

2. Discount for college students and vocational school students.To prove your eligibility for a discount during your trip, please be prepared to present one of the following documents:
– Lithuanian Student ID.
– European Student Card.
– ISIC International Student Identity Card.
– Documents issued by European Union member states confirming status.
– Documents confirming status issued by countries of the European Economic Area.
– Documents issued by the Swiss Confederation confirming this status.

3. Discount for family. One or both parents, adoptive parents, or guardians traveling with the child(ren) on all days of the week must present identification documents.

4. Discount for seniors.To verify your eligibility for the discount during your trip, please be prepared to present your old-age pensioner ID card or a document confirming your age.

5. Discount for those with special needs.To prove your eligibility for a discount during your trip, please be prepared to present one of the following documents:
– Disability card.
– Certificate of work disability due to a workplace accident or occupational disease.
– Certificate of Disability Level.
For individuals who require regular hemodialysis treatment and their accompanying persons (one accompanying person per patient). To verify your eligibility for the discount during your trip, please be prepared to present a medical certificate.

Discounts for accompanying persons apply when traveling with a person with a disability or a patient undergoing hemodialysis.
